When the owner of a 7-11 in Toledo, Ohio noticed a shoplifter, he first told an employee to call 911. Then, he confronted the shoplifter. When he discovered the reason he was stealing, he asked his employee to cancel the call – and sent the shoplifter away with some free food. A customer in the store witnessed the act, and his post went viral on Facebook.
The story quickly garnered national attention.
When a 7-11 owner confronted a would-be shoplifter, he stopped short of calling 911: “He’s a young kid. That will go on his record that he was a thief. He cannot do anything in his life. He will not get a good job. This will not solve his hunger problem.” https://t.co/LrDLVsD5gF pic.twitter.com/wln2CM8Rbv
