A transformer fire near Touby Pike and North Street dispatched Kokomo Fire Department and Duke Energy to the site around 8 a.m. Thursday morning, but now power outages were reported. More information to come.
Car crashes into Amish buggy
A crash involving an Amish buggy and a car resulted in a 10-year-old Amish boy’s broken leg. Howard County Sheriff Department said the buggy pulled in front of a moving car late Tuesday morning on a county road. The four Amish children in the buggy were heading to school when the horse pulling the cart failed to stop at the intersection. The car was unable to stop and crashed into the buggy – causing minor injuries to the three other children, whose ages ranged from 7 to 14.

An odd landing happened near U.S. 31 bypass Wednesday morning after pilot, Jerry Jumper, experienced engine failure. Jumper managed to land the plane without damage or injuries after the plane lost power at 4,500 feet in the air.
Team USA sweeps first-ever Slopestyle
Thursday afternoon in Sochi was claimed by American athletes. The first-ever Men’s Slopestyle event in freestyle skiing was claimed by Team USA as Joss Christensen won gold, Gus Kenworthy won silver and Indiana native, Nick Groepper, brought home the bronze.
