Strength in numbers: Kokomo unemployment rates strong

Kokomo is staying strong and that applies to unemployment rates. Kokomo ended 2012 with 9.3 percent unemployment rates and has added 1,579 jobs. This turnaround in unemployment rates is significant considering the city lost almost a quarter of its jobs from 2000-2009.

Rebuilding from disaster

A new UAW Building will break ground summer 2014 with an expected completion date for spring 2015. The state-of-the-art building will replace the Hoffer Street location that was demolished in the Nov. 17 tornado.

The Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood duet is reminding songwriter Amy Bowen of her own song. The “Remind Me” tune was on Paisley’s 2011 “This Is Country Music” album, but Bowen claims she wrote a song called “Remind Me” in 2007. Bowen further claims it was stolen by Paisley songwriters, Kelley Lovelace and Chris Dubois, during a songwriting workshop.
