Turbine loses a blade

A turbine lost one of its three blades in Tipton County Feb. 1 and the cause is still unknown. According to reports in Kokomo Tribune, a representative from the turbine’s company, E.On, the cause may not be known for at least another six weeks. And as for when it will be up and running? That timeline is questionable too. The company is currently awaiting the arrival of a unique crane to conduct studies of what happened to the turbine and its blade before it begins repairs. The turbine is located in Wildcat Wind Farm, just east of Windfall.

Key Bank was destroyed from its foundation at Hoffer Street during the November tornadoes, but it celebrated its reopening Tuesday. Mayor Greg Goodnight said the location’s successful reopening and remodeling is a source of pride for the community.

“[It’s] great to see Key Bank remodel and reopen after the tornado,” Goodnight said. “[The] ribbon cutting was symbolic for more than just their building.”
