New EMA director announced
County Commissioners Paul Wyman, Tyler Moore announced yesterday they have named their newest Howard County EMA director as Janice Hart. Howard County congratulated Ms. Hart on her 30-plus years of experience via its Twitter account yesterday. Hart brings city and county experience to the position and served as interim EMA director until her official title was unanimously approved by Howard County Board of Commissioners Monday.
City of Kokomo earns new honor
City of Kokomo has earned recognition in a big way from Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. City of Kokomo won the association’s Community Achievement Award – the city also won the award in 2010.
Greg Goodnight, City of Kokomo mayor, said the honor stems from a strategy to make Kokomo a versatile city.

“Our focus on improving quality of life and creating a healthier and livable community is attracting businesses and residents,” Goodnight said.
State of the City address Mayor Greg Goodnight will address City of Kokomo for the annual State of the City presentation Feb. 24 at 7 p.m. Goodnight will conduct the open-to-the-public speech at Kokomo’s City Hall, 100 S. Union St. The State of the City address will be broadcast at KGOV Channel 2 and City of Kokomo will live tweet the speech @CityofKokomo. Goodnight said some major talking points for the night will include: Developing Kokomo’s urban neighborhoods to bring in younger workers and information about Goodnight’s opposition to the elimination of business personal property tax. |
