Kokomo puts on its hosting hat
Kokomo will provide the stage for young women to represent their Indiana towns and earn scholarships during Indiana’s Distinguished Young Women Program. The 50-year program helps high-school girls earn scholarships. The program will take center stage at IU Kokomo’s Havens Auditorium. The first preliminary begins at 7 p.m. Thursday and the second preliminary is Friday at 7 p.m.
The young women will tour the City of Kokomo during their week-long stay. Mayor Greg Goodnight said the opportunity to showcase the City of Firsts to younger generations is an ideal opportunity for the community.
“We are honored to once again be selected as the host city. Distinguished Young Women is a valuable program for our city and for those who participate.”
