Today marks the fourth time this month we’ve experienced negative temperatures and the first time in two weeks – prompting several area schools to call for a 2-hour delay. The lowest we’ve ever gone is -36 in 1994.
No flu restrictions at St. Joe and Howard Community Regional Hospital
St. Joseph Hospital and Community Howard Regional Health have decided against imposing visitor restrictions. IU Health in Tipton has already imposed restrictions – due to 11 Indiana influenza deaths this winter. Kokomo hospitals said they will revisit the restrictions next week.

Kokomo shows its sharing side again at Tuesday night’s celebration of United Way’s successful 2013 campaign. United Way of Howard County set a goal to raise $2 million in 2013. Even with several natural disasters, the nonprofit was able to exceed its annual goal by $22,000.
Purdue University fatal shooting
23-year-old Cody Cousins will be in court today facing murder charges, the Purdue University student is accused of firing four to five shots to murder 21-year-old Purdue student Andrew Boldt. Cousins, from Centerville, Ohio, allegedly entered the Electrical Engineering Building just after noon and targeted Boldt. He quickly exited the building and surrendered to police. Cousins had run-ins with Lafayette police before for an alcohol-related arrest. Both Boldt and Cousins were both teaching assistants.
